Perspex Mounting

ADVANTAGES OF PERSPEX MOUNTING

Acrylics are an excellent material for perspex mounting photos – it is perfectly smooth, very stable and long-lasting.

The acrylic or perspex mounting protects the print so that the mount is also the glazing. We use simply hidden hanging rails and supporting rail, making a ready to hang artwork.

This alternative style of framing but without a frame presents a new minimalist look.

The modern look sets off artwork without the distraction of a surrounding structure. It comes with a hidden hang rail system on the back which sets it off the wall and further accentuates this floating effect.  This style is also known as Acrylic Float Frame.

Face-mounted acrylics or Perspex Mounting have another significant advantage over a regular frame. In conventional framing, the glazing (either glass or acrylic) is separate to the photo.

Whereas, in face-mounted acrylics, the picture is adhered to the perspex or acrylic using an optically clear adhesive, which means that the most important part of the image, the ink layer of the photo is permanently sealed away from the air which significantly improves its archival properties.

Acrylic Floating Frames as a complete form is a single piece with no corners or joins.

There are significant advantages to this product in shipping.

CHALLENGES WITH ACRYLIC MOUNTING ARE MANY, THE POINT BEING, IMAGEBANK AUSTRALIA HAVE HAD OVER A DECADE TO GET IT RIGHT.

With such significant advantages, we should see all the frames in this style.

Acrylic or Perspex mounting is a complicated process to get right, one speck of dust will ruin a whole piece of work, and the process is irreversible so that a mistake means starting again.

We have a decade of experience and have, together with state of the art equipment, perfected the art of Perspex mounting.
