TIPS ON COLLECTING PHOTOGRAPHY PRINTS.
Photography Prints: When thinking of collecting photography from a price-point perspective, photography is one of the more accessible.
Collectors in order to find and champion emerging photographers can often purchase several prints on a limited budget of a few thousand dollars.
BEGIN YOUR COLLECTION WITH IMAGES YOU LIKE AND WANT TO LIVE WITH
Photography Prints: Collecting photography isn’t much different from purchasing any artwork. Begin with images you like, additionally, what you think you’ll love and can live with for a long time. Some collectors begin from an artist, others a subject, others a price point.
UNDERSTANDING EDITIONS
Individual photos are issued in an edition by the same token numbered. The artist will usually sell the image with a binding statement with the numbered edition you have purchased and the total of prints released for sale in the edition. However, not all original photographs will cost the same amount.
WHEN ACQUIRING LIMITED EDITION PHOTOGRAPHY PRINTS, YOUR PAYING BECAUSE OF EXCLUSIVITY.
Photography Prints: limited editions of fifty prints and an edition of three are both “limited”, but they’re not equal in terms of value. Generally, the smaller the number of copies in an edition, the more expensive they will be.
You’re paying for exclusivity, of course, the less in print run, the more valuable. The same image can have multiple editions in different sizes. In order to keep your limited edition value always keep your limited edition papers.
In particular, frame your collection with a qualified framer. Even so, if in doubt check to see if they are with the Australian framers Guild, for a professional finish.
